INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ENTRANCE TESTS FOR M.A., M.PHIL. AND PH.D. IN ECONOMICS, 28 JUNE 2014
(List of Examination Centers | Map of Examination Centers)
- For the M.A. entrance test, admit cards have been sent by email by the University of Delhi. All the applicants are advised to regularly check their email inbox (including spam folder). The applicants may also login to the admission portal and download their Admit Cards. You can check the status of your admit card from http://admission.du.ac.in/pgadm/. For the M.A. entrance test, the admit card gives the candidate’s roll number and test centre. (Note: The roll number is different from the registration number).
- For the M.A. test, there are different test centres for Options A and B, as listed in the table below. You must go to the centre allotted to your roll number. If you have been allotted the wrong option/centre due to data entry error or any other reason, you must go to the control room of your allotted centre well before the start of the test and point out the discrepancy. Arrangements will be made to allow you to take the test with the correct option at the allotted centre. Those taking the M.A. test should NOT come to the Department of Economics as this may result in your reaching the test centre late.
- For the M.Phil./ Ph.D. entrance test, the admit card will be the registration form with the attached photograph, and the roll number is the number on the registration form. For the M.Phil./Ph.D test, the test centre is the Department of Economics, Delhi School of Economics.
- All candidates should report directly to their allotted test centres by 9 a.m. All centres are on the North Campus of Delhi University. As it is a very large campus, those who are unfamiliar with the layout are advised to come early. A map with the centres marked on it is available at: http://econdse.org/examination-centers/
Note: Entrance to the Departments of Economics and Commerce is on Sudhir Bose Marg; for Law Centre – I on Chhatra Marg; for SGTB Khalsa College, Daulat Ram College, Faculty of Social Science, and Department of Mathematics on Guru Tegh Bahadur Marg; and for School of Open Learning on Cavalry Lines. Entrance to the Faculty of Arts is from both Chhatra Marg and Guru Tegh Bahadur Marg.
- Candidates must bring their own pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners etc. A simple (non-programmable, non-alpha-numeric memory) calculator may be carried. Mobile phones with or without calculator function are NOT allowed.
- Candidates should NOT carry any papers, whether printed, written or blank (except for the Admit Card, without envelope). Blank pages will be provided in the question paper booklet itself for any rough work. However, since the number of blank pages for rough work will be limited, candidates are advised to do rough calculations in pencil, and erase them after answering the relevant question.
- As decided by the University of Delhi, roll numbers have been allotted even for applicants who applied for admission to the M.A. by ‘Merit Only’, whether or not they are interested in taking the entrance test. However, as specified in the Admissions Information Bulletin, shortlisting for departmental scholarships and hostel admissions will be done on the basis of the entrance test only.
