BRICS Network University is a union of higher education institutions of the five BRICS member countries, formed with the objective of enhancing educational collaboration in research, innovation and other educational activities. It was established in November 2015 via a MoU signed during the third meeting of BRICS Education Ministers

It is a platform for development and implementation of joint (bilateral or multilateral) educational projects in various knowledge fields by BRICS NU participants. The six thematic fields covered under BRICS NU include the following: Energy; Computer Science and Information Security; BRICS Studies; Ecology and Climate Change; Water Resources and Pollution Treatment; and Economics.

In India, the BRICS NU activities are under the aegis of the National Coordination Committee with Secretary, Ministry of Education as Chair. Activities in the assigned thematic area are coordinated by a faculty member from that domain.
