 Abstract

In the context of infinite horizon models, we study the possibility - impossibility divide for the existence of anonymous social welfare functions satisfying a weak notion of sensitivity to generational utilities (called uniform improvement Pareto). In conjunction with other papers in the intergenerational social choice literature, this paper completes the analysis on the existence of anonymous social welfare functions for a spectrum of sensitivity conditions. The characterization result identifies the exact domain restrictions that are imposed by the existence of anonymous and sensitive social welfare functions.
